The process of carpeting an entire home is a tedious one to say the least. It is a job that takes time, precision, and attention to detail as I mentioned in previous blogs. I always say “MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE.” You have to work along side others who understand the importance of precise work. This job took a few weeks in total to complete but we couldn’t be more happy with the outcome!
In the stairway below, we chose a carpet that resembled Sisal. Sisal is a natural fiber native to Southern Mexico that is woven into various products. Sisal rugs are seen often in Hamptons homes. It has a very natural and clean look. Because it is a natural product, it can be difficult to keep up with. We chose to go with a replica of sisal because of the amount of foot traffic that would occur on the main stairway.
In this photo you can see the basket weave effect that runs through the rug. Because this summer home is located out east, we decided to give it a “Nautical” look by using 3″ thick fabric to bind the carpet. By doing so, you give a completely custom look to the carpet that normal binding would not do.
The Dining Room was one of our favorite looks. The space encompasses a vibrant coral color along with greys. We chose a beautiful silk rug for the floor that had a very nontraditional pattern, but one that speaks volumes in the space.
